"That lógan: we came to win"
Esse lógan: nós viemos para ganhar. Nós viemos para vencer.
TranslationThat lógan: we came to win. We came to conquer.
The press conference ran under the motto the Federation had chosen for the cycle, “viemos para vencer” (“we came to conquer”), and the first thing the new national team manager did was read it out loud. He called it a “lógan” — his take on “slogan” — and handed it back swapped, “nós viemos para ganhar”, with the everyday word for “win” in place of the motto’s, before repeating it as written and signing off with: “we’re convinced that wherever we get to, we win”. The Federation’s line stood as the motto of his tenure; it was the pronunciation that made it a Jesusism.
